Match Preview

League leaders Borussia Dortmund host relegation candidates Hannover 96 – a side that’s lost their last ten Bundesliga away games against teams starting the match top of the table.
Dortmund maintained their six-point cushion at the top with a 1-0 away win at RB Leipzig in their last outing. Recording a clean sheet in that game would have been welcomed, especially considering ‘Die Borussen’ have managed to shut out the opposition just five times prior to that match this league campaign.
Whilst only two of those clean sheets have come at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund are yet to lose at home, and have picked up more points on home soil than any other team this season (W8, D1).
In this matchup, the Bundesliga’s best attack in Dortmund (45 goals scored) comes up against the division’s third-worst defence in Hannover (36 goals conceded). With the visitors winless in their last seven league games (D2, L5), and failing to score in four of those, a Hannover victory here would be seen as a shock result.
Astonishingly, Hannover have actually found it easier to score on the road this season (ten goals) than at home (seven), with ‘Die Roten’ netting in eight of their nine away fixtures (D4, L5). However they remain winless in 21 Bundesliga away games.
Players to watch: Dortmund’s Axel Witsel nabbed the winner against Leipzig with his second league goal of the campaign. Meanwhile, defender Felipe (two goals) scored Hannover’s last Bundesliga goal.
Stat attack: At home, Dortmund have been losing at half-time just twice this season – they came back to win by a one-goal margin both times.
Hannover have scored four of their ten away goals in the first 15 minutes of games.
Eight of Dortmund’s nine Bundesliga home fixtures have featured over 2.5 match goals. A league-high six produced over 3.5.
