Match Preview

Derby are looking to bounce back following their first loss of the season on Tuesday (W1, D2, L1), and still go in search of their maiden home victory of the campaign. They only had two spells last season of at least two home matches without a win. Scoring first is key, as they last lost a league game when opening the scoring in September, 2017.
The ‘Rams’ only went winless in at least four consecutive games once last season, and they’ll be concerned that two of their three home league losses last term came to teams higher than them in the table, which is where West Brom currently reside. Despite conceding two in each of their last two, Derby only conceded at least two goals in back-to-back games on three occasions last season.
West Brom defeated teams positioned first, second and fifth in the Championship last season away from home. Only three other clubs claimed more away points than they did, which is made even more impressive as they conceded the first goal in 14 of their 23 away league assignments (60.87%).
The ‘Baggies’ have recovered from losing positions in their last two matches to gain a positive outcome. That has been aided by the fact that West Brom’s last four league goals arrived in the second half of games.
Key battle: Martyn Waghorn has scored six goals in Derby’s last six home league victories and goes up against West Brom’s Sam Johnstone, who made more saves (147) than any other Championship keeper in 2018/19.
Stat attack: Derby have won the last three H2H renewals, scoring an average of three goals per game.
Four of the five league goals Derby have conceded so far arrived in the first half of matches.
West Brom have won both away league matches this season 2-1, conceding in the first 15-minutes each time.
