MATCH PREVIEW

After a disappointing away performance in the reverse fixture (0-0), Belarus (FIFA Ranking: #80) will look to go one better in Minsk as they host Moldova – a nation ranked a whopping 93 places below them.
Belarus, however, have been much more impressive at home during their UEFA Nations League (UNL) campaign, opening with a emphatic 5-0 win over minnows San Marino, and a tight 1-0 victory against Luxembourg. At home, the hosts have now lost just three of their last ten competitive matches (W4, D3, L3).
Moldova come into this after a 2-0 win over San Marino – the same nation they secured their last away win against, back in March 2017. In the 11 games on foreign soil since, it’s been the usual painful viewing for the FIFA ranked 173rd team in the world, with eight losses and three draws, and only three goals scored.
The last time Moldova managed to clinch a victory over a nation currently ranked higher, was back in 2014 (4-0 versus Saudi Arabia) – a match that was 42 international fixtures ago.
In the eight previous H2H games, Belarus hold a narrow edge (W3, D3, L2). Notably, the away side on the day has never won this fixture, and the home side on the day has scored at least two goals in five of those eight encounters.
Players to watchAnton Saroka is the only Belarus player to have scored in more than one UNL game, meanwhile Radu Gînsari’s double against San Marino makes him the sole Moldova player to have scored in the UNL so far.
Stat attack: Moldova have been losing at half-time in three of their last four matches on foreign soil.
Moldova have failed to find the net in ten of their last 12 fixtures.
Belarus have scored in seven of their last eight home matches.
